I think Aeolian in A has a nice romantic sound, but that's just me it will be interesting to see what others say.
#3

i like A minor(aeolian) for my pron grooves though...

Well I know what the dumbest mode thread is.

Edit:

Ok, it's ionian because it sounds like a boner.
And no, Guitar Hero will not help. Even on expert. Really.

Which do you think is the most appropriate in a chord progression that goes C - F - G?

You could use Ionion being the C major or it's relative minor A being Aeolian.

No, just C.

You do have the right approach mate - and those notes you play will sound good over it. However all that you're playing is the C major scale, no modes, and no As. But it's really good that you could figure it out so fast.

I hardly think that has anything to do with this.

Meh a warning's been given. This thread is derailing pretty fast, but I had something to do with it so :p

I play three songs in a band that could be considered "sexy" but it's more to do with the rhythm, lyrics and wah-pornish type guitar licks on it.

For the record, two of these songs are in minor keys, and one in a major key, so no modes. I'd be interested if somebody posted a modal sexy song for reference though.

in all seriousness, my band has a song actually called sexy and the verse has a dorian feel over a Am7 and a D6. and it sounds pretty sexy if i say so myself.

And it's not on youtube?

yeah it might have something to do with everything else; the rhythm, the sax in tha background ect. although even though its kind of a modal vamp, i think most of the melody being sung and on the sax is mostly pentatonic. and it does modulate in the chorus. i do like dorian things though.

Why should he? You don't have to know the theory behind modes to enjoy the sound of modes. Maybe he just likes listening to modal music. It's not like you have to know anything about car engines to enjoy NASCAR either.

I'm betting my money you're right on your statement, but your approach to this thread just irritates me.

EDIT: Oh, right. I voted for Locrian because I'm a hipster like that.

Wow. If locrian would be your version of "sexy" I really don't want to see what your ideal woman looks like

No, you don't need to know about car engines to enjoy Nascar, but you do need to know what a car is to understand what you're looking at. My approach may be blunt yes, but we get a lot of misinformed modes threads here every day and this is just another one to throw on the pile.

Don't get me wrong, I don't get boners from Locrian Nah, modal music doesn't do that to me.

It's all cool though, I've lurked in MT for months reading and studying stuff here and I've got to say I've learnt a lot. I don't post a lot because I'm afraid I'd pass on misinformation. I've noticed the misinformed mode threads that keep popping up every other day. I guess that's because way too many guitar lessons focus on modes.

I hope you guys keep it up
