Hi guys,

I just finished a press release for UG and am very excited/proud to say that we have launched the voting for Chapman Guitars third standard model - currently named the ML3 ;-)

As with all CG models every element of design is down to the public and at the moment we are voting on:

6 string Vs 7 String

You can vote here: http://www.chapmanguitars.co.uk/ml3-votes/

The votes for this category will end soon and then we will commence with the rest of the spec.

Thanks

P.S Mod's I was asked to post this by Tom Colohue
P.P.S The ML2 guitars are in a boat on there way to the UK for late July/early August.

I voted for six even though I don't plan on buying one.

Thanks mate, they're good because you guys design them - Then I have a top UK luthier (Jaden Rose) make the prototype which I send overseas to make an affordable version of.

I always use top quality tone woods ;-)

Well, until you guys choose all the spec - Bridge typem pups, finish, neck joint etc there is no way to know... but it definately be less than £500 and more than £250.

I can't wait to see how it'll turn out. Could you do a quilted maple top or would that be too expensive?

Why not call it the ML7..?

Besides you might as well market to what's selling, when does the 13 string model come out?

The Pit is predominantly full of UBER BR00t4LZ SHR3DDING, so no surprises that there's a hefty amount of support for a 7.

Seeing as you already have 3 6-string models (ML1, ML2 and Ghost Fret), I think a 7-string would be an interesting change. I'd like to see how this turns out.
I shall grant you three wishes.

None of which will work.

Does the above post enrage, offend or confuse you?

Good.

Any chance of a semi acousic les paul shaped with dual inputs for piezo and electric, one piece brazillian rosewood body and neck with a cocobolo cap?

Didnt think so :-(

6! Defy the 7 string bandwagon!

Edit: Whoa, the ML2 is only 350? Seems like I've found my next guitar purchase.

I vote 6 string. Better for business anyway IMO.

6 string: Most guitarists will be interested
7 string: Br00tz metal guitarists will be interested

7 strings aren't just for metal you know.

What's with the 7 string hate?

You can play anything you can play on a 6 and more with a 7. You have more range, and you can STILL down tune as far as you want to go with a 6 string, only again, you have more range. You can play jazz, funk, metal, blues, pop, rock, country, and just about anything else.

At the moment they're for a slightly niche market, but the market grows more and more everyday. Hence more and more mainstream companies adopting 7 and 8 string models.

I for one vote 7!

Bowes SLx7
Washburn WG587
Washburn X40Pro
Washburn X50
Washburn HM24
Washburn WR150
Laguna LE200s

8 strings would be funky but 7 will do

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. There are more than enough affordable 6 string guitars available right now.

I think to say that UG is an entirely metal head community is a bit of a sweeping statement dude... I have been coming here for years and found many blues, rock and fusion fans as well as metal heads.

I say six, but that's out of personal preference...which this should be really. I've only played one seven string (Schecter C7) and just didn't like it much.
Also played the ML1 some time ago, and really liked the feel of it.
#35
F*cking hell. This guy and his awesome YouTube videos are brilliant. Props to you.

Anyway, 6 strings!

For a guitar company just emerging, I wouldn't target half of your products at a niche market (assuming the ML1 is now discontinued).

I'd wait until you have a larger range of different guitars before you offer what is essentially a 'speciality' guitar.

I love what you're doing, making simple, well-made affordable guitars... so I'd hate to see CG start to struggle to expand.
But what do I know!... I've not started a guitar company! Just my gut feeling
