Hi all,

I play in a post hardcore band, think Funeral For A Friends meets A Day To Remember meets Architects.

I've recently bought myself a Peavey 6505+ (for the bargain price of £600) but im wondering wether it would be better to sell that on and get myself an Orange Rocker 30

I love the heavy tones of the peavey but it's not the most versitile of amps, just wondering if anyone on here had any thoughts or advice they could help me out with.

Thanks!

I'd say keep the 6505+ until you save enough to get a Rockerverb 100 MKII.

get an amp with a tone you like and want. if you really think youll want need and appreciate the versatility of the amp then get the orange

I dont know what exactly is more versatile about the orange.

The peavey excells at high gain stuff obviously.
The orange excells at crunch, low/mid gain, it can get a bit hot, but nothing near to what the peavey can do, it just doesnt have the same voicing.

They both have sucky cleans, the R30 has no clean channel EQ and no FX loop.

Theyre both as stubborn as each other really...

Orange TH30 is the awnser, or like the other guy said save up and get a rockerverb.

Thanks for the replies guys,

What about the TH30 makes you say to go for it over the rocker 30, does it have an FX loop?

And also do you have any options for a suitable cab to go with the 6505+,

i'm currently using a crate with celestion blues in at the moment but was thinking perhaps a mesa or an orange cab?

Any suggestions would be sweet (Y)

its got a 12at7 buffered FX loop.
Has lovely cleans
Switchable down to 15/7 watts.
its the highest gain orange head made to date.
2 band EQ on the clean channel
Shape control on the dirty channel.

The whole preamp section is a tweaked rockerverb, with a dual terror output section. Although it wont do the crunch thing as good as the R30 by itself, I picked the TH over the R30 for all these reasons.

It is MIC though, unlike the rockerverb/r30 which is made in the UK.

It really just comes down to preference. I would also say go with the TH30 over the rocker.

I want to either get one of those or a Thunderverb to run along with my 5150.

any cab with v30s would probably be best. I have an Orange cab and love it, so my vote goes to Orange!
