Hello,

I use Abelton Lite Live 8 to record my music on my laptop. I learned elsewhere on this forum that recording quality is dependent on the sound card. Of course, I was cheap and bought a crap laptop, but for a bargain. The quality is no where near studio nor anything close to videos posted from users (example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-OzIpOTQE0 ).

Is there some other solution other than buying a new laptop with a good sound card? Maybe a desktop (cheaper) but with excellent sound card upgrade? Is there some stand alone device maybe?

Peace and thanks in advance.

Edit: I also want to mention that I connect through my amp via USB cable. Abelton picks it up and records.

I would look into an audio interface, its basically a sound card except 100 times better and built for ease of recording
Look into m-audios
