Final Project Pics on Page 3.

Hi gang, I just got this J. Thayer guitar in the shop to do some inlay on. Really nicely made guitar. So much so I decided to make it my video project for this year.

This is what I'm going to be inlaying on it.

I'll update as pictures become available. Video of the project is on my web-site.

This is going to be 193 pieces. The guitar has 28 frets (very interesting) and it using Floyde quick string system so it will have no tuners to inlay around. YEAH!

Did you see the Viking guitar back in 2009? If not search for forum for it.

Well, it's not my guitar. Thayer is making it for a guy named Ryan. But, yeah, it would be good for that.

Tbh, i REALLY dislike the shape, but I think the inlay is super cool. The complexity of it scares me... o.O.

That being said, good luck!

Yes, it's complex, but I do stuff like this all the time. Won't be a problem.

The MOP comes from DukeOfPearl.com. The other materials come from all over the place. I proabaly has 15 supplies easy.

Honestly one of the best inlays I've ever seen. You do good work. Like a mosaic of guitar win-dom.

Not fond of the design, not being a douche just not my style lol, but you've done some great work here better than anything I can do

Could be, but not the for me. I have done others like this. Check out the Viking Guitar and 50's Sci-Fi guitar that I documented on this forum (do a search) They were probably just as complex. The Sci-Fi guitar probably more so.
#39
Update: I finally got around to cutting the rest of the pieces. The pieces that look like steel look that they because they are.

i've had some problems with inlays in the past as well, but it was on an ebony fretboard. sure, you can stick it up there, but trying to pull it off after you finished and painted it would be the problem. dunno about those colorful inlays in the body, though.

and, that's a beatiful piece, i'd prefer to see it on a PRS styled body instead of a V.
