should I attempt to perform the guitar solo the way Tom Morello does or improvise/write something of my own? All he does is play one note and funk around with effects as usual, which isn't to appealing to me. So I'm wondering if the crowd will be caught to off guard if I just throw something of my own in there, or if I could potentially make it more interesting. thoughts?

Do a breakdown, get the crowd bouncing, then go into 7/8-27/16-4/4-12/8-9/8-77/32-4/4-3/4-243/64, all over drums that are playing 23/16 on the high hat, 3/4 on the bass, and 5/4 on the snare

Definitely do your own solo. The "solo" in that song is the most boring thing I've heard in a song. A rocking solo would also get the crowd pumped too.

This, as much as I love Tom Morello, strumming a single note with slapback delay is honestly boring..
