You're a ****ing idiot.

Nothing says metal like a pink single humbucker guitar. Also if your that metal, you really shouldnt care what colour her guitar is.

You sound like a douche.

well so ****, she bought the guitar she wanted, you should have given her advice or something

or give her a cheap overdrive/distortion pedal

If you don't want her in the band, then tell her no. That guitar and amp is not suitable for a band practice anyway.

So, you're whinging about how bad the guitar will look and sound?

You've got a bigger problem.

A newbie will be playing rhythm in your metal band - because that's what you want in a technical musical style

And yes, you sound like a tool.

Dude what amp do you use? What guitars have you got?

She has a guitar with a humbucker at the bridge, considering she is going to be learning guitar to play metal, she would sound shit no matter what gear she uses. It has taken me close to 8 years to find the sound I want, why on earth would she know before she has really even started playing?

It could be worse, she could have bought a strat and then she probably would have the "wrong" guitar. But she doesnt so stop being a twat.

She won't get pretty good. Over many months, maybe - more like years before she becomes 'truly' good. It's not what you want for a metal band.

Then why didn't you talk to her? How old are you?

It makes you a tool because music is meant to be fun. Who cares what colour her guitar is, she bought it because it's what she wanted. In the end, gimmicks sell - remember that.

oh my... this thread...

like everyone else said TS, she's gonna need quite a bit of experience to play want you want, probably a couple of years at least, probably more depending on what type of metal you're wanting her to play. the thing with metal guitar is that technique is much more important than the guitar itself for sound.

i've seen guys play strats or other guitars with single coils, and they are quite experienced and get great metal tone. on the other hand you can take a solid body guitar with super high gain humbuckers and a Diezel amp and give it to someone who has been playing for 6 months, and they couldn't get a good metal sound out of it.

and no offense TS, but you don't sound like you're nearly old enough to be changing pickups by yourself. and who says pink guitars can't be metal?

There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

I looked. Just a few highlights. You seriously work as a tech at GC?

so recently i had the idea to mount a battery to my guitar to be used with my seymour duncan detonator (passive)
is this possible?
is there a diagram someone has/could make?
i really want to push this guitars output

okay
so i want to put a second volume pot im my AXL build kit
i want to tear the tone pot out and solder in a new volume pot
the tone pot im tearing out doesnt work

any diagrams for what i do with the wires from the old tone?
and putting in a new volume?
i want the new volume to take my bridge pickup and the old one will take the middle and neck

thank you in advance

so i have my Fender Stratocaster and i think that it is too tough to use my whammy bar

so i took my back plate off to see if i could loosen the tension
i found 3 springs hooking the tremolo system up to where it anchors into the guitars body i removed the middle of these springs

i am satisfied with the tremolo response but i fear this may harm my strat so i put the spring back and came too seek your advice

can i leave this spring out?
will it damage my strat?

Your posts are not poetic

Retarded.

On topic, pretty much what everyone else said. I don't understand how you are almost 20 and still have such an immature view on band/musician/gear stuff.

Why would you build her a kit guitar? Just find her a used Schecter or Ibanez or something and swap the pickups.

Dude, there's nothing wrong with not wanting her in your band, it's your band. Don't let some random forum users guilt trip you for not being ultra open-minded. I personally get sick of the touchy, ultra-sensitive vaginas in today's society that think anything anyone wants to do should be accepted by everyone to not risk hurt feelings.

You're not a bad person, you are planning to help her pursue the guitar, and you don't want to hurt your friend, but if you and your bandmates don't want her in, then what's there to discuss, she's not automatically allowed in the band because she's your friend. You're more patient and sensitive than me, if someone bought a guitar and assumed they could be in my band just because they were my friend, I'd tell them start their own band.

I say tell her that she needs to focus on learning before she should even consider a band.

you know, this thread proves that he did indeed make a humbucker out of 2 single coils and carve his own pickguard... i'm not even gonna comment on it... see for yourself
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

I don't think it's a true humbucker if it's just 2 single coils in series. One of them has to be RWRP.

you can wire it in series
its slightly less output than a normal bucker though
