Hello UG,

I'm back with another 'help with amp' thread, but this time not for me, but for a friend of mine. Here's the list:

Budget? - 1400 € MAX.

Genres? - Mainly heavy/progressive metal, but needs to be as versatile to play everything from rock to punk to metal. Decent cleans are needed. He mentioned bands like firewind, but he also plays a lot of black sabbath-ish stuff, he also mentioned Michael Angelo Batio.

New or Used? - New.

Home or Gig? - Both, has to be heard over a drummer, will do smaller gigs with it, but he'll use it at home too.

Closest City? - Kortrijk, Belgium.

Current Gear? - Epiphone Les paul, Line 6 Spider IV 15 watts (he knows).

I will recommend Blackstar. They are pretty versatile amps that have an overall good sound. A series one is within your price range.

A Splawn Quickrod would also be good (or a nitro) but they may be hard to get in Belgium.
What?! There's a clean channel on my amp?!

A bugera 333xl, with a nice cab like a Mesa or an Orange and a nice overdrive pedal should easily be able to pull offr the sounds he wants for that budget.

He doesn't want a bugera, forgot to mention that, partially because they won't be here 'till September, but mainly because they're unstable

engl blackmore?

if you get lucky and find one, brunetti xlr-evo?

EDIT: does the budget need to cover a cab too?
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

We tried the ENGL at the store, didn't really like it...
Brunetti's probably won't be able to be found here xD
Yes, 1400€ budget for head AND cab.

EDIT: What about Randall?
