Well you are in a Contemporary Praise and Worship situation if I go by your FB page, and that stuff (Tomlin, etc) does tend to sound very similar after a while. Not saying that's bad though, because the underlying attitude isn't about self, its about service and worship, not ambition. Initially I was going to say "perform" but not in that context, its about setting yourself aside.

So, I'm really not sure what to say, you are playing things that are appropriate for that genre/focus.

Where is the problem as you see it?

Best,

few things
beatboxing with it (im trying to learn this myself): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4NjDqDKiII

loop pedal! (love doing this, there's so many cool things. watch the whole thing or just check out at like 6:30 if you don't want to): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iL2hTdm6V0

finally, play covers of songs people know. See matt nathanson for being the king of this. If anything, during a break down or the end of one of your originals, add in a verse/chorus to some famous song, then go back into your song. This is because they know the lyrics to the famous song, they don't know yours. So if you blend the two, you'll get em singing along to the famous one and then your song eventually.

Finally, stage banter. See matt nathanson again for this example. Seen him 3 times live and he just "gets it". As in, he is hilarious, interacts with the crowd, and puts on a great show.

thanks for the input! i am a sort of worship/modern christian act but i do play and write some mainstream stuff. i just felt like my act got alittle old, maybe didnt seem to hold ppls attention as much as say an act with a drummer and full band.thanks for all ur input you guys tho, i def am gonna try the thing about putting in song tht everyone knows with the song im playing, as far as looping, it sounds cool, but isnt always easy to do live.
