Name some things that you find to be clichés or overdone in Music. I'll start.

Any lyrics that talk about how somebody is falling.

Steel-string acoustic moody covers of pop songs. Covers like these are sappy and have no originality whatsoever, but they're easy to do, and in this case the girl is pretty.

Drum beats where the kick drum is on every quarter note like in Electronic dance music or dubstep. I always get annoyed whenever there's that same exact drum beat around 140 bpm tempo.

Those songs starting out with someone saying "YEAH" and "WHAT"....or "UH". Rap and Rock are quite guilty.

The modulation to a higher key in the last chorus of (mostly pop) songs. IT IS NOT UPLIFTING GODDAMMIT.

Auto tune. It hurts my soul.

Shifting the key up one step for the last chorus.

And rhyming 'fire' with 'desire'. Seriously. I could think of at least 10 other words that rhyme with 'fire' right now, but it seems that nobody wants to use anything that isn't 'desire'.
My signature lacks content. It is, however, blue.

Just about every vocal trance song I've ever heard. Idc what trance-obsessed people say, trance music lyrics suck big ol dicks.

Epic trance is okay because it's awesomely cheesy.

But it does suck. I don't have good taste in music.

But I don't really like the key change in that song. Still love it, but it'd be better without that.

I don't think you understand.

Singers don't really have a say. The producers are going to do some sort of vocal correction to make it sound as perfect as possible no matter what.

Unless you mean the snapping effects in which it's really noticeable. Which I think is overused now but I still like it sometimes.

while looking up examples of bad key changes, i found this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=840B27zYfOk

the common-tone modulation from verse to chorus has the G# (7th of the IV chord) become the tonic of the new key (Ab) going to the new I chord. that's some cool shit. instead of the leading tone resolving to the tonic, the harmonic movement makes the leading tone resolve to ... itself.

I hate over-rhyming. Fray's "Over My Head" is the best example

i dont have too much to contribute, but when it comes to metal soloing these days, sweeping is a bit overused, if you ask me. not that i dont like it, really, but it tends to sound cliché, especially if only the same inversions for the minor/major arpeggios are being used. what i dont hear to often, though, are diminished and augmented, or even 7th arpeggios.

yeah, just my two cents

Rhymes that last for the whole song. Or that verse.

Change it up.

Oh, and Blake. I hate that.

And every other one of their songs. But I actually love them for it.
