I'm an intermediate gigging player, with 3 years of experience, and I 'm currently searching for a decent new tube amp with a max. budget of around 500 euro/ $700.
I mostly play classic thrash & groove metal, like Slayer, Pantera & Exodus, and need an extremely high-gain amp that can be heard above a loud drummer. At the moment, I'm gravitating towards the Peavey 6505+ 112 60w combo and the Bugera 6260 120w head (if I choose the Bugera, then I'll buy the Bugera 412H cab to go with it).
The reason I can't choose between them is because there's no shop anywhere in Ireland that I know of that sells either model, so I'll have to order from Thomann.
I've heard that the Peavey has better distortion, but is it possible to get a good Dimebag/Machine Head-style clean out of it?
Also, will the Peavey be loud enough for medium-sized gigs (a few hundred people)?
Finally, are there any other suitable amps you know of?
Thanks

P.S The Bugera (with a 412 cabinet) is 450 Euro ($640) and the Peavey is 490 (700)

If your playing 200+ seat venues, the 1/2 stack will "look" more professional. The 6260 also comes in a 2x12 combo. And if you get the Head , don't get the Bugera cab, they are garbage. Look for a better bargan cab like JCA 48S, Blackheart 4x12, Harley Benton 4x12

Or go for either an Avatar or Whitebox cabinet. You can custom build them to your specs, and all you'll REALLY need is a 2x12 unless you plan on playing arenas. In which case, all you need is a 2x12 at most

He is in Ireland, those cabs aren't available to him at a good price

Thomann.de has a Framus 212 with Celestion V30's for pretty cheap and shipping to Ireland is very good. There's also a Harley Benton 412 (And I'm sure a 212) also with V30's for a very good price.
