Not sure where this belongs, but how do you produce the sound that John does when hes just scraping the strings in By the Way?

any spot where there are no harmonic nodes that will cause a harmonic to ring out should do. that's all there is to it..

there may be a bit of wah on the guitars in that part of the song as well, but i can't really remember, haven't listened to the song for a long time.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.
