I've decided that I'm going to relearn music theory. I haven't really sat down and learnt it properly, just the bits I thought were relevant at the time. I'm pretty confident with the major, minor, major pentatonic, minor pentatonic, harmonic minor and the blues scales. Does anyone know any sites where I can learn about tension/resolution, chord harmony and intervals?

Thanks,
Hayden

There is a gap in your learning. How you can be pretty confident about those scales when you don't know about intervals? Intervals are the building blocks of scales.

Try some of the links in my sig.

i actually learned a LOT from the complete idiot's guide to music theory.. as long as you do it a chapter at a time and take the time to actually do the homework.. you will learn the stuff. i graduated college with a degree in music media, i had to take 3 classical theory classes and i tested out of jazz theory.. i would have been able to test out of classical theory if we didn't have to sight sing for the test. i can assure you that the book teaches you everything you NEED to know. with that knowledge, you can apply it to the higher levels of theory that aren't covered. go to your local banes and noble or something and just flip through it.. it's great
