Hello UG,

Currently, I am saving up for a new amp. I will be looking for the following specifications:
- Sparkly cleans
- Reasonably high gain, doesn't have to be utterly brutal
- Good tone at small club /properly soundproofed room volume
- At least 2 channels, preferably more
- Must be able to carry it up a flight of stairs with a slightly bad back.
- Amazing shred tone
- Preferably including footswitch
- Easy to use.

I am willing to save up to 1000 euros, more if it's really worth the extra cash. If you want to know my current gear, just look at my profile.

PS. Trying out amps is hard for me since I live in the middle of nowhere and the nearest guitar store only sells a choice between Spiders and boutique amps that are over 2000 euros.
PPS. I have tried a Peavey 6505 and didn't like it very much - the cleans weren't what I was looking for. So if you reccommend that I will arrange to have you beaten to death with a sack of pomegrenades.

I'm gonna get a lot of shit for recommending this, but I think you should try a Bogner Alchemist. They're very versatile and have a modern distortion sound. The built in effects are pretty decent, too. Some people say they sound kind of compressed and artificial, but I think if you're after "The Shred Tone" they suit it quite well. Worth a try, anyway.

Egnater amps seem pretty good in terms of features, but I've never tried one so I can't say for sure.

I'm having mobility issues (no drivers' license or public transport in the hellhole I call home) so no. I would if I could, I'd just like to know which amps would be worth taking a look at. Back when I studied in Utrecht I went to Feedback there every other day, not a great selection to be honest. They did have nice guitars, just not a lot of good in the amp department.

THIS! I have a Peavey 6505+ and I compared it to an Alchemist, the Bogner was a whole lot better

Maybe a Mesa Express 5:25 combo? I don't know how much they go for in the Netherlands though...
Gear
Highway One Tele (w/Custom Shop 51 Nocaster pickups)
Standard Tele (modded to Nashville specs)
Reverend Roundhouse

Orange Rockerverb 50 MKI
Vox AC4c1
Jet City JCA20H

And pedals!

They're ridiculously expensive. Something like 1600 euros in Germany. I assume in Holland it should be around the same price.

there are no used ones here

I don't really like onboard effects, pedals are made for that IMO

oops, it's for 650€, good offer though..

*linky*

It says I have to go and pick it up, but I would have considered it otherwise.
Same problem I discussed earlier.

Good find though, I suck at bargain hunting.

EDIT: I just realised I'm not exactly making it easy for anyone

I'd still have to wait until the end of the month, though.

PS. Any non-used suggestions, anyone?

Have a look at the ENGL amps. Very versatile, and a very good value in europe. I've owned an ENGL Blackmore, which is exactly what you are looking for. 800 euro used on marktplaats, but it is a heavy 100w head.

You might want to consider a screamer or gigmaster for lighter options. If you want extreme portability you might want to consider an ENGLe530 with a small poweramp. It'll be light, portable and sound pretty damn good. Most of the weight is in a tube poweramp. If you get an SS poweramp it'll be much much lighter. (under 10kg total vs. 18kg+)

Other options that spring to mind are the Blackstar amps, they have some pretty low watt tube options that sound great and are pretty portable.

Where in the netherlands are you?

If you need to kill a man with a 9v adapter? I say strangulate. Or swing the heavy end around and aim for the temple, all depends on your style.

Whoever is suggesting mesa in europe for 1000 new, is on crack cocaine. Mesa is way too overpriced to be viable on a budget in europe.

Why you selling your rig, Mark? Going the AxeFX route?
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"
