How many threads are you going to post about legato? This has got to be number 3 or 4.

Best way to practise legato imo is to practise trills. The default way to practise it and build up your finger strength is to put your index finger on your high e string at say the 5th fret. Then hammer on to the 6th fret with your middle finger, then pull off again. Once you have that smooth and consitent, hammer on with your ring finger, but still onto the 6th fret. Then, repeat with your little finger. Finally, alternate between your fingers so that it's consistently 5th fret 6th fret 5th fret 6th fret, middle-index-ring-index-pinky-index-ring-index-middle-index etc.

Hope that makes sense?

put your index finger into to 1th string(any fret say 5) than hammer on-pull off 6th fret with your middle finger then release 5 fret and press into 2nd string 5th fret hammer on pull of 6nd go upto 6th string by that and then come back to 1 string then start to hammer on pull of 7frets using middle finger di this until you are comfortable than try this with also moving horizantal when moving across the string. it may seem easy but it is really helping.

Yeah, by using all three fingers to hammer on and pull off on the same fret you force your hand into an odd position and develop finger strength. It's more geared towards peeople wanting to learn how to shred, but works effectively in developing finger strength for the purpose of legato as well
