are there many differneces in the sound/tone etc between a:

1979 marshall JMP master volume lead 50w 2x12 combo
and a
1981 marshall JCM800 4010 50w 1x12 combo

I've been told that the very late 70's JMP's were basically the first JCM800's, so are these pretty much the same as far as sound and tone goes?

I also heard this is the kind of amp Im looking for, I like the sound of Joe Perry, Guns n Roses, bluesy rock etc. is that right too?

thanks

Late JMP's are pretty much the same thing as early JCM's.

You will need a tubescreamer of some sort for GnR tones though (I have a JMP)
Or you need to cranck it way up, but I don't think you have a stadium to practise in.
