If i was playing triplets to a metronome would i go

x=notes b=beat

x  x  x  x  x  x  x  x  x
b        b         b

if i was playing 8th notes

x   x   x   x   x   x   x
b       b       b       b

and if i was playing 16th notes

x   x   x   x   x   x   x   x   x
b                b

also is a triplet two 8th notes and a 16th or two 6ths and an 8th ?

neither. it's three evenly spaced notes occupying one beat.

your beats look fine, though.

If your galloping in 3s, then yes. I recommend being a cool guy, and using pentuplets and 7s, you can do all kinds of shiz yo. Triplets do sound good though, keeps it feeling upbeat.

...what? no. gallops are not triplets. gallops are two 16ths and an 8th (or an 8th and two 16ths).
