I was waiting for the anger phase in the breakup to happen, ya know, the Alanis Morrisette kinda thing, and this is the closest I've gotten so far. Not raging, more like seething.

Yes, it rhymes , it's what I do~

I'm thinking energetic uptempo, 12-bar blues, shuffle/boogie, or a variation thereof. I like sad lyrics that go with upbeat tempos.

I'm having a problem with chorus; thinking it may need to be twice as long to fit into the tempo schema, let me know what you think.

Thanks~

You Ran Away

I poured myself
Into you
Didn’t feel like a sacrifice
At the time

You drank me up
Your thirst was quenched
Spilled me on the ground
Like cheap wine

Is that how you treat a friend?
Is that how you treat somebody you loved?
Is that how you wanted this to end?

Chorus:
There’s work today
You ran away
There’s bill’s to pay
You ran away
There’s things to say
You ran away
Now you’ve run away to stay

I fed your body
I fed your soul
You took it all
Had no problem receiving

You feasted at
Our banquet table
When you were sated
You had no problem leaving

Is that how you erase your past?
Is that how to forget 10 years of our lives?
Is that how love doesn’t last?

Chorus:
There’s work today
You ran away
There’s bill’s to pay
You ran away
There’s things to say
You ran away
Now you’ve run away to stay

Bridge:
You only heard half our vows
You must’ve been hard of hearing
The promises of forever
Didn’t stop you from disappearing – you ran away
