Can someone recommend me some software choices that I can use to practice improvising. Im looking for something where I can specify a chord progression then have it play it back for me while I solo. Thanks

any software that is midi programmable with midi instruments?

As an alternative, try this site out : http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/
Lots of different backing tracks to jam to.
Its a bunch of MP3 files though, not a specific program.
