The serial does add up. Does it have a 60s neck profile?

im having a hard time figuring that out... but it feels skinny to my hands... so yeah i guess its a 60s...my sheraton epiphone feels like a basball bat and i think thats more 50s..

Your acting like your avatar, man

But, like the above, serial checks out.

And I'm also curious as to why you think the truss rod was replaced?

I don't see why someone would do that. "Hee herr, I'm going to put in a different truss rod that does the exact same thing! He'll never know!!"

Trust me, if he put in a stick, the neck would've snapped by now. If you're wondering why the plate doesn't say "Standard" It's because they didn't put them on those models. 99.99% chance it's real, everything checks out, I'd say go for it if the price is right.

looks like a standard faded in tobacco or desert burst.

i don't see any signs of a fake there.

if you email gibson the serial number, they can tell you for sure the name of the finish and exact model of the guitar in case the truss rod cover got swapped. i'm not sure that in 2006 which guitars got scripted TRCs and which didn't.

what does it read on the back of the pick ups? the seller should be able to tell you that. knowing which pick ups it has may help determine the model while you are waiting for gibson to get back with you.

its SUPPOSED to be just a normal standard... btw its goin for 1600 shipped... good'?

could be the shitty cell phone pics but yea, $1600 shipped is about right.

faded models come with open humbuckers... and the wiring looks pretty legit (no pickupchange) so i think it may just be the pics-..

yes.

do they have the original warranty card with matching serial and owners manual?

yes.

do they have the original warranty card with matching serial and owners manual?

no, all of that was thrown out a while back... im in mexico, so warranty doesnt work... and the owners manual is inside but no serial written on it..

I've never seen a black back 'burst Les Paul, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Gibson made a few black back Goldtops a while ago as reissues. Maybe they did a few 'bursts, too.

It looks like a very nice Les Paul. If it is what you want and you can handle the price, then go for it and enjoy it.

i think its a standard, i have one too and also without the engraved 'standard' on the truss rod cover.
as for the finish, thats is undoubted desert burst, which they offered on the standards of that time.

noone knows if the case is "time" correct?

i told you it was. the handle is the same as it was on my 08. the later models have a different type of handle.

congrats, looking forward to more pics.

hey thanks for the replies! i sent gibson an email giving them the serial and they said this

Hi,

Thanks for the email. The serial number is consistent with a Les Paul Standard in Desert Burst finish and 60’s neck, made on the 166th day of 2006 in Nashville, TN. I have attached information on the model for your viewing. Thanks again!

so i guess im good? xD i think if gibson said it i should not worry about anything else eh ?

not always, but it's good news for sure. everything lines up, but serial numbers can be faked. usually they are printed on the neck, not stamped. there just isn't anything there saying it's a fake, none of the usual things you see. (goofy bottom horns, headstock size, knobs slightly off, bridge positions, body size, inlays, wrong case, etc, etc)

there is just nothing there to say it's a fake.

most fakes won't line up with the gibson info on the serial nyway. not that they couldn't, they just don't bother.

did you post on mylespaul.com as well? it may make you feel better about it, but i'm seeing a gibson all day in these pics etc.
