The other day i was at the cinemas and the restroom signs for men/women had braille on them (as well as the picture, obviously.) My question: how does this help blind people find the toilets? Do they just run their hands across the wall and go around the entire cinema until they find it? Feel free to post pics of/talk about humorous signs here.

they're always on the same places on signs.

But how do they know the sign is there?

I'm curious why a blind person would be at the cinema lol. Perhaps they just follow the smell of toilets, then check the braille to make sure they go in the right one xD

they don't have to read a 'please wash your hands' sign any more than you and i have to; they're always on the same place in ATM machines, certain signs are always localized in a certain manner that can be found by memory, phones are self-explanatory.

there's hearing equipment you can get that audiobooks the entire cinema for you. i saw it in an ad in the cinema.

Why would a blind person need an audio book when they can just sit in the cinema and hear the movie while the rest watch it?

Unless audiobook is like:

Yes, but the sign is next to the toilets and the toilets are at an arbitrary point in the room. Also, I can't believe I didn't question why a blind person is at the cinemas.

like anybody who can't find their way, you simply ask where the restroom is and then it is in your memory forever. unless a troll leads you to the women's room and you're a guy.

Maybe the blind person's guide dog would lead them to the toilets but not know which one is which, then the blind person feels the braille?

Better question. How do blind people know when to stop wiping?

They can't taste it anymore when they lick it.

Allot of blind people aren't completely blind, they might see the door but maybye they can't distinguish the difference between a male and female sign on the door.
So they feel the door.

BUT WHY WOULD A ****ING BLIND PERSON GO AND WATCH A ****ING MOVIE?
METAL!

blind people don't see darkness all the time. they form images based on what they hear/feel and it's vividly accurate for them. also, not all people are born blind and therefore know what things look like.

I know many blind movie lovers. They do prefer movies with more dialogue rather than heaps of special effects, though.

Wouldn't it suck if someone who wasn't born blind who went blind dreamt they were no longer blind and then woke up still blind?

Blind people are, in my opinion, some of the most extroverted and eccentric people I know. They don't let the blindness stop them. They want to make the best out of what they have, rather than mourning about what they don't have.

I went on a summer camp for blind and visually impaired "youth" (18-35) last week, because I have a 20/100+ vision, so I know quite a few of them.

I've only ever met one blind guy before and we only started talking as I liked his dog. He seemed really nice, shame he's cursed with being blind while there's so many twats in the world who have nothing wrong with them (apart from their twatty ways)
