Can anyone point me to some cheap extra long strings? I'm having a hard time finding any that will be long enough for my recently restored Framus hollowbody.

For reference^^.

Cheers

£4.50 for 3 sets of strings

No wonder they sucked. £8 for a set of strings is cheap: £10 is the usual price depending on brand and type.

You get what you pay for. I've bought cheap strings in the past as well, they're nowhere near as good as some of the more expensive brands.

Just remember that you're shopping for a very specialist item - on the whole of ebay, that was the ONLY set of extra long strings the search found. If you just search for 'guitar strings', it finds 10,591 results.

If you want strings that fit that guitar, you're going to have to pay for them.

I hate to sound like an asshole, but deal with it. £10 is a good deal, and guitar is a damn expensive hobby.

Got to agree with the other guy I'm afraid- unless you're buying something special (eg extra long...) a tenner is a lot to pay for a set of strings. Between 6 and 8 quid is probably standard.

We're agreed on one thing though: you should never buy strings that are 4.50 for 3 sets.

Maybe my local prices are just higher then. Meh. I buy elixrs a lot too, so I guess it is more.

The three packs for £4.50 strings didn't suck. They were just designed for guitars with 6 in line tuners.

I eventually managed to purchase a pack for £1.97. Shipping from Hong Kong though, so I'm going to have to wait a while.
