That will fit my Gibson S1, on the high E string the nut cracked and it slides off on any down stroke. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix it before going to find a new one, since this nut is a vintage piece.

You could try cutting a slot into it...

But it looks like any other nut would work. Just cut off the slides if it's too big or whatever.

If I cut another slot in it it will just get even worse wouldn't it?

Anyone know anything I can do to just fill up that spot?

Not necessarily worse, but a very temporary solution for sure.

Dude, just get a new nut, they cost like 10 bucks.

I'm more worried about the fact that this is all original piecing, and was hoping to keep it that until now. I'm not cheap, just really trying to avoid this and hoping there is a way to fix it.
