So I've read through many reviews and Ideas, but I'm wondering,

I have a Engl Fireball 60w and I don't know when the tubes were last replaced but I'm looking for other good tubes, I was thinking Tung-Sol 5881's?

When you say good tubes, that's fairly subjective. I really recommend doing what I do. Buy several and experiment. The same tube in a different amp may yield different results. Experimentation is the key to success here. I just bought a gold pin JJ ECC803S that I plan to roll through some of my amps. This is a high performance tube, so we'll see what happens. Good luck!

TungSol 5881's are only rated at 400V. I'm not sure what the Fireball has but if it's getting 60W out of two tubes it's probably higher than 400V. They are a 23W tube. You could get away with a Tungsol 6L6GC which is a 500V/30W tube.

Go for SED or JJ 6L6's instead.

what would happen if TS put 2 23w tubes in a 60w amp?

They'll fry unless you mod the amp. You can run lower power tubes in amps only if they can handle the plate voltages. Running JJ 6V6's in a 6L6 amp is common but they are exceptional tubes that can handle the voltages. I'd be very surprised if a TungSol 5881 would run in a 60W Engl without lots of spitz 'n' sparkenz.
