I still need to order that Aggression re-press. Actually, I think I'm going to do that right now with a shirt.

That Dead Swans EP shipped last week though, so I'll hopefully be spinning it on Friday.

Wait, re-press? I thought it was the first press.

EDIT: "Bridge Nine's first pressing of Verse's Aggression on vinyl."

The first pressing was on Rivalry, but Bridge Nine did the repress and CD release. So it's still technically Bridge Nine's first pressing of the record.

Not sure what color I should get. Leaning towards the white/black.

I got the orange one.

Yeah got my email last week, so stoked for this! Glad I chose the rarer colour too (/500 for grey & black, /1000 for clear and red) .
This is my third order from the B9 store (I've bought the 2 remaining defeater vinyls I needed and the Sleepwalkers repress so far) and I've found they've been pretty quick with shipping (even though I'm in the UK); they even chucked in a free cd (albeit a crap one) with my first order. With the second one they gave me some PETA stickers, boooooo.

I got both TTS/PBTT's split and Rolo Tomassi's Cosmology this week!

Cosmology's side B skips at the very beginning though.

TTS?
I googled TTS Band Hardcore and got loads of porn results; maybe including the term hardcore was a bad idea.

I don't understand the whole vinyl craze. I'm not saying it's stupid or a bad thing at all, I just don't understand why all of the sudden vinyl is cool. Is it just a collecting thing or?

If you want a physical copy of something, vinyl is the best, and it's way cooler than a CD and they're collectors items. Plus they sound better than CDs or digital downloads. They're also just awesome to look at too.

For me, vinyl makes me appreciate a work in its entirety by an artist. Because when I buy a CD or whatnot, I listen to it once or twice and then pick out the songs I like and only listen to them again. I generally listen to full albums in the order they were meant to be heard when I'm spinning records. Since I started obtaining vinyl, my appreciation for a lot of bands and albums has increased and stuff.
#137
That's cool. I can respect that totally. I "acquire" my music in ways other than CD's and vinyl if you know what I mean, but I'm an huge merch collector. I have so many band shirts it's nuts. I could go probably 3 months without needing to wash any shirts. That's my way of supporting bands I guess.

I was always kind of curious why people were big vinyl fans so I thought I'd ask. At ETID's show the other day they released Ex Lives early on the date that I went to. I was actually really tempted to grab the vinyl just cause it looked cool, but decided to grab a shirt instead.

I disagree with Andrew on the "vinyl sounds better thing". Vinyl sounds different, and I like it, but it is in no way superior- there's a reason that it became outdated.

Vinyl sounds better if you have a good player connected into a respectable hi-fi set up. Play a CD through the same hi-fi system and you'll hear the difference.
It became outdated because they wear out, CD's are smaller and you can fit more on a CD.

I don't have a really good set-up so I can't really comment on that, but, in my experience, vinyl isn't much higher quality
#142
It is. It's not a massive "ZOMG, THAT'S LIKE A NEW PRODUCER" change, but it's a "warmer", more... OPEN, feeling. It feels "realer". It's very hipster and artsy, and I hate to talk about it like that, but it just is. Same, awesome quality hifi system, running a CD and then it's record counterpart, and the record wins 10 times out of 10.

I don't have my own vinyl player atm (skint student), so I use my dad's when I'm at home, which is connected to his decent quality hi-fi set up. Records sound absolutely beautiful.

I wish I could afford to spend the coin on a nice system. I have a pretty decent turntable, at least.

Fuck. At least when I get home, I'll have copies of ETID - Ex Lives (ltd clear vinyl /500), Rise and Fall Faith (hopefully as it is from US, STILL NO PRESSING INFO) and BWP - Forgotten Soul (red and seafoam green, /193, finally got a copy off ebay!).
I'm transferring some money to my current account (which never gets used) so that I have cash for when the new converge album goes on presale. Hopefully have some money for record store day too.

Here's a pic of what I've picked up this semester:

From top left to bottom right:
Defeater - Travels (4th press, mustard yellow),
Guns 'N Roses - Appetite for Destruction (repress on 180g black),
Dead Swans - Anxiety and Everything Else (Grey/black),
Oathbreaker - Maelstrom (1st press, brown),
Last Witness - Mourning After (red/black swirl),
Dead Swans - Sleepwalkers (2nd press, tequila sunrise),
BWP - TROAE (Bronze),
Verse - Aggression (1st pressing, grey and white swirl),
Hang The bastard S/T (black),
Protest The Hero - Fortress (purple),
Grader - Amnesty 7",
Defeater - Lost Ground (3rd pressing, white),
Coke Bust - FBC EP (3rd press - i think - on pink vinyl).

I told b9 to draw kittens on the back of the box when they shipped me Aggression. They even held my order up until I returned an order they accidentally sent me.

And then even after all that, they didn't draw kittens on the box.

I am terribly disappointed. Why would they have a section for specific instructions if they're not going to follow them?

Polyvinyl would have done it.

Hmmm, my parents just redid my room back home, and Ikea do some nice cheap shelving units for storing vinyl, so I think I might go down that route. Currently all my vinyl just sit on a shelf as that's the best way to keep em vertical atm.

polyvinyl looks awesome. Bridge 9 have been OK to me, probably cos I tend to splurge when I shop with them (to make it worth the shipping from the US). Although they sent me a load of PETA stickers, which pissed me off.

Got home today, having a mass listen to some of the vinyl i picked up this semester. Noice.
