My guitar has a scratchy pot in it and was told from a few people to use a little bit of lubricating contact cleaner on the track of the pot to clean it, but I called guitar center and he told me they need to be resoldered. Will the contact cleaner work or do I need to resolder it?

The cleaner should do the job, so try that first.

There's no point dismantling your guitar unless you really have to, the guy at the guitar centre was probably just trying to get a bit of extra business!

What's the best way to do this on a semi-hollow? I think I have to unscrew the pot and pull it up through the F-hole, yes?
