I just recently ordered a ibanez rg2ex1 i want some good pedals to use with it and my ashdown g60r amp to achieve a good metal/hard rock/metalcore sound. Some bands i like are Black Label Society , Ozzy osbourne, Metallica, acdc, Asking Alexandria, Aerosmith, Tesla, BFMV, Ratt, Van Halen, Alice Cooper and Pantera. I have no set price range currently so feel free to recommend whatever pedals that you thing would be good for me.

How heavy is the distorion on your amp?
Guitars: Fender FSR Standard Strat, Squire Affinity Strat, Epiphone Nighthawk
Amps: Vox AC15C1, Roland Cube 15x, Peavey KB-1
Pedals: Digitech RP355, HD500, Joyo AC-Tone, EHX Soul Food

It can get some pretty heavy distortion it couldnt hurt to have a decent distortion pedal though.

if you have no solid price range, i would pick up a different amp. unless there is a ceiling and you want modulation, or such then i would get a pedal. chorus is always handy.

*i almost never say (or at least be the first to say) this in a thread, but a new amp would be in order for optimum results*

Hi, you're better than me. Have a nice day!

Im pretty happy with my current amp the reason why I have no price range currently is just to get an idea of some pedals to check out.

wah (i have a fulltone clyde, but RMC makes a better wah IMO)
chorus (i don't have one atm, but love the red witch)
phaser (MXR phase 90 script is pretty sweet)
delay (if analog Malekko 616, if digital TC Electonic Nova Delay)
wammy (dime used it alot, its a harmonizer)

A dela, wah, and chorus pedal would be a good start. I really like the sound of the mh phaser too. And maybe a tubescreamer to tighten the disortion on your amp.
Guitars: Fender FSR Standard Strat, Squire Affinity Strat, Epiphone Nighthawk
Amps: Vox AC15C1, Roland Cube 15x, Peavey KB-1
Pedals: Digitech RP355, HD500, Joyo AC-Tone, EHX Soul Food

Might have been a more relevant answer if he had put something other than "How heavy is the distorion on your amp?"...

I think a decent delay is a good place to start, very versatile. Maybe a compresor if you are into that kinda thing?

I didn't know be could already get a metal sound out of his amp. I thought he wanted to get metal sound from his amp, but i guess he just wants effect pedals.

LOL - I'm not even going to ask Sorry OP for hijacking the thread! Another sugestion if if you are using a distortion pedal or plan on getting one a good noise gate is always a good purcahse, as is a good tuner

This guy hit it pretty much on the spot!
But I will recommend another basic pedalboard:

Distortion: MXR Fullbore Metal (Just the name should suffice!)

Wah: Dunlop Crybaby Wah (Almost every rocker and metalhead uses this)

Delay: Hardwire Delay/Looper (For a variety of delay sounds and you can even record with it too! It does analog and digital delays pretty well IMO. Tap tempo as well.)

Chorus: T.C. Electronic Corona Chorus or MXR Black Label Society Chorus
(Depends on your flavor of chorus! But Zakk Wylde endorses the second one...)

Phaser: MXR Phase 90 (everybody uses it. i mean everybody! IMO I think one knob is pointless but that's just me)

Misc.: Digitech Whammy (It's that one of a kind pedal. You'll get crazy sounds with it)
NIN + Muse + Radiohead + Tool + Metal & Dubstep =

THE METAL SHALL PREVAIL!!!

Slapping an EQ in front of your amp really does open up a lot of tonal possibilities. The BOSS GE7 is great but the MXR EQs are more affordable.

Im going to go check out some of these pedals and see what i like.

quite a few of those most likely wont be in stock or even sold at any retailers near you. you would most likely have to judge based on youtube videos, not ideal but passable.

Yeah i live in a rural area so there isnt many guitar shops around. The nearest GC is 7 hours away.I have been watching youtube videos of some of the pedals and the ones so far that I have watched looked like good pedals.
