Hello, I am a beginning bassist that originally played guitar for a year before hand (self taught)

I came up with a learning trick to figuring out notes on a fretboard by thinking of a tuner and thinking about the notes ascending and descending similar to a tuner

Does this method work or not

Advice is appreciated

learn scales and modes on the fretboard. learn the names of the frets and when you practice the scales/modes, tell yourself what scale you're playing. emphasize certain notes like say the 5th in the scale, and tell yourself what note that is on the fretboard. stuff like that.

Learning the alphabet is a good start. Go in halves untill you get to G and a half. Then start again.
