Hey folks. I got myself a cheap bass recently. A Squier "Classic Vibe" J-bass. I like the feel of the bass, but I find the strings a little too heavy.

I'm looking for something bouncy, poppy, and effortless. The stock strings on the bass are geared for a more "vintage" feel, so they're heavy and mellow.

Music I play: Motown, pop, funk, blues.

At nearly 40 bucks a pop, I can't really afford to "Try a few out."

Go to a music store, try out a few basses til you find strings you like and buy those.
Arguing on the Internet is a lot like being in the Special Olympics. Even if you win you're still retarded

Too many factors come into play there though. neck profile, scale length, action of the bass.
