I was thinking about this earlier and it got me a little down thinking about some of my favorite musicians leaving some of my favorite bands. To name a few disappointing member changes:

Jani (guitar) getting booted from Sonata Arctica
Roy Khan (singer) leaving Kamelot
AJ (guitar) leaving The Human Abstract...but thank god he's back
Brice Dickinson leaving Iron Maiden for a bit
Jeff Loomis leaving Nevermore

What are some of yours?

Gotta say Frank being replaced in Gallows by Wade from Alexisonfire. Hopefully it'l work out sweet but I can't see how any of Grey Britain will be the same.

Queen getting a new singer.

It was actually never called Queen but a supergroup comprised of two ex-Queen dudes and Paul Rodgers.

John Cale leaving Velvet Underground.

Pete Doherty leaving The Libertines?

That awesome guitarist in early Babyshambles leaving for some total **** up. That was bad.

John Cage leaving Velvet Underground.

It was John Cale
I would agree though, especially since he was replaced by Doug Yule

It's the pit; nelson mandela could make a thread urging everyone to do an effort towards reducing apartheid politics in some countries and everyone would post a photoshop of him with a melon hat.

It's called Queen + Paul Rodgers.

I do, and as a bonus I even spelled his name right

Surprised no one has said Cliff Burton leaving Metallica.

Well not exactly willingly leaving... but you know.

Marty Friedman leaving Megadeth.

John Frusciante leaving RHCP (this time round mainly because there's a chance I'll see them live this time, and I really dislike the new guitaist)

Leon leaving Aicle. Recently heard of this one, hope the band don't hiatus or anything.

Steve Vai's various backing bands have occasionally gone up and down. Much prefer his "The Breed" lineup to the "Sound Theories" one, but it's all gewd.

...I can't really think of anymore right now.

Frank left Gallows? The fuck
I'm not a big fan, but he was Gallows.

OT: Every time Josh Homme fires his whole lineup. The one with Nick Oliveri and Dave Grohl was the best time for QOTSA's music.
Also RHCP. I don't dislike their new guitarist, I'm sure he's perfectly good. He's just not Froosh

And since my first post didn't actually have something on topic:

When Paul and Sean fired Tymon and Robin from Cynic. Seriously uncool.

Josh Eppard and Mic Todd leaving Coheed and Cambria.

Rumored for the past 2 days.. There was video posted from a show where they had Elliot from Sky Eats Airplane singing.. And it's *almost* been confirmed by both band and reporters than Dan left/was kicked out.

Official statement from their label tomorrow.. So check out Facebook if you wanna see how it all went down

Basically.. Rumors started, video posted, people freaked out, TesseracT didn't say anything. Then recently they said they'll say shit Tuesday.

So, So many...

All the deaths:
Cliff Burton
Freddie Mercury
The Rev
Paul Gray
and so on...

Otherwise...
Marty Friedman leaving Megadeth
Portnoy leaving DT. I saw A7X with portnoy and they were great, however the reason this is disappointing is purely because I can never (hope not) see DT with Mike...
Newsted leaving Metallica.

Can't think of any others right atm but sure there are many...

What?? When did this happen!?!?! I was going to see them with BTBAM and Animals As Leaders. That's a big time bummer. His voice is so good.

I was pretty bummbed when Kevin Lane left Whitechapel.

But clearly the biggest disappointment was Painted In Exile. I don't think that record is ever gonna come out now.

Wait wait wait....when was this?

December 2010. Then Paul announced on the official forums that Cynic would continue as a "collective" where he and Sean will bring in various guest musicians. Based on Retraced, and the fact that Tymon did all the harsh vocals, I'm guessing that Cynic is going to become Aeon Spoke with distortion.

John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy, John Myung, James Labrie, and Jordan Rudess when they joined Dream Theater. A truly disappointing line-up change from silence.

Recently, PIE's guitarist and keyboardist leaving was bad, since the guitarist wrote all the unique riffs and was basically the only reason I liked them :/ Most of my other favorite bands are still comprised of original members.
