This is actually much better then I thought.
At night it makes your screen less blue and more orange... like reading a book [ie in doesn't dim your screen but changes the colour of it, read the FAQ etc etc].

It took me a minute to get used to it, but wow. Late night reddit/wiki/UG sessions are so much better.

You have enter your location for it to work best.

Other option: get an LED monitor.

For a laptop?

Can you not just adjust your brightness?

That's why I said it was better then expected.
It doesn't dim your screen but change the colour of your screen.
Try it out and you'll exactly what I mean.
It's great for doing lots of reading at night.

Ah, didn't think of that

I've used f.lux before. I found it kind of annoying. LED monitors help with eye strain at night. But there is no adjustment in color, obviously, so they're not totally comparable.
i don't know why i feel so dry

Friend told me about this yesterday. I have it now, it's pretty chill.

On the come up we were listening to Grateful Dead and the music started passing through my bowel and out my arsehole as this violet stream of light. I shat music. It was beautiful.

Does an LED have better light then? Or whatever?

I like f.lux because your screen isn't dimmer, but it looks a lot better when the room you're in is dark or lit by a dim light or a strong lamp.

I keep saying a lot about this program but it's so damn cool.

Been using this for quite sometime now. I can't remember where I found it, I think it was somehow from the Art of Manliness site. I recommended to the DT but never made a thread for it. It is indeed awesome, and everyone should use it.

I love this thing. It's so good for eye stain for the late-night lurker. I highly recommend. Dimming down the brightness doesn't do the same thing, obviously.

I also think i found it from saint's post in the DT. Thanks ya, saint.

I installed it and my screen is pretty much the same (maybe a little bit more orange in color?..)
Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see any real changes, anyways thanks for the recommendation.

I thought of the idea of the computer monitor changing brightness depending on time of day, but never looked it up. This is way cool; thanks.

Using it right now. The orange tone is a little weird, but it is definitely a lot easier on the eyes than it was before. Not completely sure if I like it or not yet.
My signature lacks content. It is, however, blue.

I couldn't get used to the orange tone. I turned it off.

you can turn the orange tone down to one that suits you. that's what I did and now it's great. I click the normal tone and my eyes start hurting.

bringing the slider up to about where it says florescent should help your eyes get used to it.

Can't say it's an outstanding difference.

Worth a shot, especially if you have sensitive eyes.
