I also have a 1527, and I also love it!

The obvious answer is see if you can play both. Or at least play similar shaped models, ie the RG1570 (and other RG prestiges) play pretty similar to the 1527 imo, and I imagine the 2127 is pretty similar to any decent quality RGD.

the only thing is that i like that the rgd has a 26.5 scale soo i would get better tone. i would put either bareknuckles or dimarzios in either one i get soo the pickups dont matter. looks wise i cant go wrong with the 1527, its just sooo simple. the 2127 has more of an original shape and i like it that its mat black, i find it cool. but then again more ppl have the 1527 soo that must mean something... ohh and the rgd is a tad more expensive too soo that must mean something... thats y im confused.
