Im looking for a 5-string bass and some kind of 1-piece pedal/fx which will line-out straight into my PC, I have no idea about bass equipment but would prefer second-hand. Can I get a sick sound for this money? What would you recommend?

Thanks for any help

What sort of music?

Do you have an audio interface for the PC?

Are you intending on using it live?

Do you need speaker/amp simulation?

Without any more info, this is the most versitile combo for the least money I know of.

Okay guys, I have a confession to make. Not really a confession since it's something that's been bugging me for awhile but I've always been in denial about it.

True, and you would come well within budget.

Although if you want built in FX, you could go for the Line6 UX1

That would leave you approx £1100 for the bass, which certainly isn't bad. Perhaps a used MusicMan Stingray?

If you just want a DI box... the UX1 is awesome.

Thanks, I guess the UX1 is what to get. As for the bass, a Squier??? It seems very cheap at £300

I have a line-in :P.. No live playing, and if amp simulation is needed for a good sound then yes I need it

If no live playing, then yup, the UX1 is a great little piece of equipment (well, actually it's the software that comes with it that is good). It's got a decent amount of effects, plus amp and cabinet simulation.

As for the remaining money on the bass? Well, I wouldn't say no to anything on this page. The Ibanez is particularly nice, just because it comes with Nordstrand pickups!

You would certainly be able to get a "sick" sound with any of them though!

Personal preference for me though? Probably the Lakland 55-60 J.
