So how much do you sightread?

Yeah this COULD go in musicians talk but i figure, were all musicians here, so this applies to everybody and its not really a question of how or anything like that its a survey.

Unless you're sure she likes you, telling her you like her has a 110% chance of failing.

But hey, at least you have a 10% chance of absolutely guaranteeing failure.

A tad.
The UG Awards exist only to instill me with existential doubt.

For me, the 60's ended that day in 1978...

Willies. Fuck the lick and fuck you too.

I sightread more and more lately. In jazz band we do it every week or so when we get new tunes, and I open the real book pretty much every day. I'm getting pretty good at it, provided we're in F, Bb, or Eb.

BTW, it took me a second to realize this thread wasn't names straight reading. I have no idea what straight reading is. What is straight reading?

On guitar? Never. I find standard notation very impractical.

Only in vocals.

I'm not bad at all with it, and was told that I had one of the highest sight reading scores the second time I made the All State Chorus.

I can sight read pretty well as long as there isn't too many sharps or flats in the key signature.

Ok sightreading bass wise, though not with horrific key sigs..

Guitar wise, fairly well, I have grade 6 classical guitar, thus that taught me to read for guitar well (:

Nowadays never no more. Cause once you're able to do it and pretty decent at it. You have it in your system and it won't get out anymore ( at least for me).

When I was still practising it I did it an hour day though.

So what? I wasted like 5 minutes watching DaddyTwoFoot's avatar.

I sight read on bass well.

piano I totally suck at sight reading. it takes me a while to work through several voices. and my fingerings on piano aren't instinctual yet so I have to think about it.

bass is almost mechanical.

My bad misread the question. long op was long and hen I realized you were xiaoxi I skipped.

I practice sight reading weekly usually. transcriptions of basslines. the only gigs I read for are musicals and those only happen every few months. need to stay sharp.
