So, I'm moving into a dorm in the middle of September and can't bring my amp as it probably won't fit in the dorm or the car... I hate playing through headphones so that wasn't really an option once I tried and realized how suckish it is... I also like listening to music through speakers and not headphones so figured I would invest in something that would not only sound good with my RP1000 and guitar... but with music and movies as well. Anyway... I got these...

My budget wasn't too high as I didn't want to break the bank on yet another big guitar related purchase so I was browsing craigslist for a pair of studio monitors... I found a listing for an unopened, factory sealed pair of KRK Rokits at a fraction of the price GC or any other retailer charges...

KRK Rokit 5's!

This is my workstation for now till I leave... the monitors are a tight fit on my desk but I'll settle for it so I can tweak my RP1000 for some good settings before I leave.

Retail: $300 for the pair... price on craigslist for unopened pair... $210.

Review:

Wow... I didn't know what I was missing as far as sound goes. Not only do they allow me to hear guitar playback seemingly, but when listening to music or anything else I have heard stuff for the first time!

These will be an excellent practice and recording tool in college and I bet my roommate will be begging me to use them.

Try to put a little pad under them, and keep the back away from the wall a bit more. You'll like what it does. Also, put them at hearing level!

If you set them up better, you'd hear the music etc better than you already do.

Nice! I just sold a pair I've been using for a few years for $225, so you got a pretty great deal!

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Absolutely love it. I'm still finding new things to do on it a year later.

Yeah, I really like my rp355. Im really jealous of how good it sounds through other people's rigs because I have a Squier strat and it doesn't sound as good as it should be.

Oh yes, they really improve how the high end stuff sounds.

I'm addicted to altoids. I go through so many...
