I'm in the process of upgrading my gear, and I recently bought a used Mesa Triple Rectifier (3 channel, stock tubes). I need a new cab to go with it. I'm looking for recommendations on cheaper cabs that would be a good match, preferably 4x12 slant. I've tried 2x12 cabs before and I don't care for them.

I play hard rock / industrial rock / medium heavy stuff in dropped D 6 string and with a 7 string tuned down a whole step to A, passive pickups on the 7, D-Activators on the 6. My backup is a USA Strat Plus with gold lace sensors, but it's not my main guitar. I'm gigging regularly, generally with PA in larger bars and small theaters opening for national acts, but sometimes tiny places with no PA support for guitar.

I use my cleans. I will probably boost the amp on the dirty channels with a cheap OD like a Tubescreamer or a Boss DS-1, although I do like the sound without the boost. I'm looking for a used cab. I'm not looking for holy grail tone. I'm looking for a good, working, reasonable, durable 4x12. I don't want to go over $400US. In actuality, I'd like to keep it around $300. I'm in Metro Detroit. I've tried the head through a Valve King cab and I actually thought the Valve King cab was not bad for the price.

I have my reasons for keeping my price range where it is. It's not a matter of 'save another $500 to get x cab'. I have a budget and my reasons for my budget, and that kind of information won't help me. I'm not going to buy a cab and upgrade the speakers, and I am not planning on waiting 6 months to find the perfect craigslist or ebay deal. I have time constraints as well as budget constraints, so please don't recommend an $800-$1000 cab, because that doesn't help.

I'm looking for recommendations and the reasons for those recommendations, and I appreciate the help. Thanks.

Additional Info: I don't care about looks or whether the tolex is shredded, I'm concerned about functionality.

i'd get either a Vader or Emperor cab, or just the Triple Rec cab from Mesa. Ebay should have some used cabs, or craigslist.

None of those appear to be in my price range.

http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/msg/2532311835.html $450 for a 4x12 Boogie cab is going to be WAYYY better than the VK / other cheap cabs

http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/msg/2555004972.html In your price range, has V30's like the orange/mesa cabs, but its ugly as hell

http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/msg/2540932191.html Tear in the grill.. talk him down to $400 or less or he is stupid selling it for that much

With the right bargaining you should be able to shave off atleast $50 from these..

My Boogie 4x12 was $300 because I picked it up 50 minutes after the posting

Thanks for the reply! I have RSS feeds set up for Ann Arbor and Detroit, but I don't have one set for Macomb, so I didn't see these. The listing for Saginaw is about 2 hours from me, but it would be worth it if I could get him down $150. If anything, I'm going to update all my feeds. Thanks again Mespinos!
