Would it hurt if I had someone custom make my bass. I mean give it a unique paint job? I have seen some pretty wicked jobs done on guitars.

A few pointers, make sure its someone you know can do a professional standard job... you dont want to go mucking up a perfectly good bass with a rookie pant job... And make sure you clear coat over it so it looks good. Everything else is pretty stanndard

I was thinking about adding a real bluish green flame paint job on it. I have a guy that does painting on cars. He has a real good reputation and he has done guitars before but not a bass. And he is gonna clear coat it

As long as it isn't a valuable collector's item, go for it. The blue flames should look very good if they're done properly.

Its not, its only a Yamaha ERB model. Nothing fancy but still want it to have a unique look to it.

Not sure if I would trust someone who paints mostly cars, but if he knows what he's doing and has done guitars, go for it. Painting a bass should be pretty much the same as painting a guitar.

And, a blue finish like that would look damn cool
