Any folks out there with an acoustic dread. sporting this type of wood? most guitars that i've played just had the regular spruce top. so how does this wood measure up with the regular? does Martin, Taylor, Gibson, Tak use similar wood. how much different in the sound of this 'englemann' spruce?

englemann spruce is a little softer than sitka spruce (that's your "regular" spruce), is a hint softer volume-wise, with some more overtones. very nice sounding stuff, and is used as tops by recording king frequently, as well as some boutique shops like huss & dalton. i'm a huge fan - great sounding stuff.

I just looked in my Oxford English Dictionary and under "Acoustic Guitar", there was your Avatar and an email address!
