A German ban on selling Doom to teenagers has been lifted after 17 years.

The classic video game was put on an index of controlled titles in 1994 as it was deemed likely to harm youth.

Like pornography, sales of the violent shoot 'em up were restricted to adult-only stores.

The rules have been relaxed because officials believe that Doom is now only of artistic and scientific interest and will not appeal to youngsters.

However, one version of the game remains on the index because it features Nazi symbols on some levels.

Congratulations, Germany! Now even german teens can enjoy buying the game that shaped my childhood modern gaming.

Awesome! Germany is allowing a game that's two decades old on the market in an age of internet piracy! It'll sell millions of copies.

OK, but how about Doom II? I spent hours in the 90's experimenting with different modem strings trying to get my 14.4K modem to work well with Doom II.

If you really wanna get technical, the regulation still won't be lifted because you will still have to be 16 to even buy the game. Either way, it's about time that Germany allows their youth to enjoy the pleasures and the rite-of-passage of playing DOOM!!!
Some people just wanna watch the world burn. Wanna join me when I take my turn to pour the gas, light the match, see your world flip upside down and drop until it's inside out?

Now all they need to do is sell the first 3 cannibal records and let them play hammer smashed face.

I'd honestly fap to anything with a set of genitals as long as I find it aesthetically appealing.

We are a great country, aren't we?

I don't really give a shit, a lot of things get banned here (sometimes for a good reason), but we got our ways :p

Nah. It's just brutal stuff like films and games.

I think in every other way Germany gives you much more freedom and democracy and all that shit than other countries
