http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/09/registering_the_poor_to_vote_is_un-american.html

Sexy excerpt:

Why are left-wing activist groups so keen on registering the poor to vote?
Because they know the poor can be counted on to vote themselves more benefits by electing redistributionist politicians. Welfare recipients are particularly open to demagoguery and bribery.
Registering them to vote is like handing out burglary tools to criminals. It is profoundly antisocial and un-American to empower the nonproductive segments of the population to destroy the country -- which is precisely why Barack Obama zealously supports registering welfare recipients to vote.

This might be slightly off topic.

I don't pay taxes, so I don't have a valid opinion, but I accept that I will and I seriously want to. Why are people so mad about their "tax payers' money"? It makes sense with some people, but most people I know support paying taxes. They support this, but they don't want it to be used for social services that benefit everyone? It's only ok when it goes into military spending and those type of things?

I just don't get it.

Politics are getting really dumb the older I get. Seriously, I don't even get it anymore. Hardly anything gets accomplished other than bickering. I don't know anymore dude I don't know. Blaaaaaahhhhhh.

The Founders anticipated redistributionist attacks on the Constitution. As Benjamin Franklin supposedly said, "When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic."

As if that didn't happen decades ago.

Oh my! There is an idiot on the internet. It's all going downhill. I blame Obama personally.

I think the strangest thing about singling Zoot out is that I'm pretty sure he doesn't vote anyway.

When they say 'poor people' they are referring to you. Yes you. Chances are you are part of hte '50%' that pay no federal income tax.

Remember that. They think you are scum.

You'll understand once you fully grasp how much money the government takes out of your paycheck and your overall wages. out of the 300 bucks I make every two weeks, $20 is taken out, federal government taxes cellphone companies and they just pass it off on my phone bill as mandatory fees, everything you buy is taxed. Everyday items wouldn't cost nearly as much if not for taxes. sure sales tax only seems like a minuscule amount here and there, but once you start keeping track of your spending you'll realize taxes account for the majority of your spending. I make minimum wage, imagine what adults making around 50k plus a year go through.

Once you start spending 20 hours per week of your life working for your own wages, paying your own bills, having money taken from your check, you'll realize why people get upset. and considering the fact that many UG'ers are unemployed, 16 year olds with no financial obligations, they'll just say "oh people complaining how their tax dollars are spent is so silly". I'm not ranting at you by the way, just trying to make sure both ends of the stick are spoken for. I fully support most social services. Just wish the federal government would do a better job appropriating them.
Just a sub-par guitar player..
