I am just about to burn a batch of CDs for my band and I though: wouldn't it be cool if somebody put the disc into their computer and it automatically opened our MySpace site? Does anybody know how to embed a web address in an audio CD?

no that would be ****ing annoying

windows has .url or .lnk files which you could include so they could double click it and go to a web address but i wouldn't bother really better if they google you if they want to find out more because you never know if your website might go down, change address or anything else so the link could become outdated

Do you think that would piss people off? I can't see the address becoming obsolete - I think we will always have the MySpace page regardless of whether or not we create an actual website.

What would be less annoying is if it popped open a folder with icons to your stuff on the net instead of instantly taking you there

It would piss me off. Just because I got your CD, doesn't mean I instantly want to go to your damn site.

If I want to see your myspace, I'd search for it myself.

You can make a CD where your first "track" contains program files which can do whatever you want (go to myspace, or open a folder with video clips or something), and then the other tracks are audio tracks of your actual songs.

But then, the first track won't play properly in a normal CD player.

Or on a Mac.
Hey, look. Sigs are back.

If the first track won't play, does it affect the rest of the disc playing in a normal CD player? I think I'm gonna scrap the idea.

If I got a CD and the first thing it did was take me to a website, I would probably not even listen to the damn thing. It's not a good idea.

You know whats cooler than CDs? USB Flash drives. Especially if you pick up a bulk load of like 512mb ones for cheap. Sure, a lil more expensive than CDs but its different and you can do whatever the **** you want with them

Like the idea but it's a bit pricey. We're cheap!
