Hey UG,

I'm looking at buying a new guitar to tour with and re-record a lot of stuff with.

I currently own an Epiphone Les Paul Custom but fancy a change.

Currently, my decision is between a; Fender Jaguar, Gibson SG, Fender Telecaster and an Epiphone Dot

My main influences are; Placebo, The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, Kill Hannah, Silversun Pickups, My Bloody Valentine, Bloc Party, Slowdive, The Fauns and Big Pink.

The music I write is somewhere between 90s indie and 90s alternative rock and I would prefer a guitar that compliments reverb and fuzz

So... Opinions?

(My distortion comes mainly through a EHX Big Muff and sometimes a Marshall VS Half-stack and I use a lot of reverb)

What you really need, is a coil tap.

If you can find a Jazzmaster with P90's, it would be a good thing for 90's indie and alternative.

Just don't go over-emotional and don't jump around pretending you are playing the brootz while you are just playing 4/4 notes on the G string in a slow song.

What about the Epiphone Casino? You probably want something with P90s or single coils.

I was thinking about the Casino but when I played the DOT, I really liked it. Really shocked me

Gibson SG, more expensive but resale value will hold and it could possibly appreciate, the epiphone will not

I'm not really bothered about the re-sale value
