Okay. So, I'm not concerned with recording gear because I have a friend with a bunch of mics, nice software, mic preamps, etc. Basically, I want you guys to recommend me some gear that can fit within a $500-700 budget. Multiple pieces, single piece, whatever. I'm open to anything. New or used? Doesn't matter to me. I just like to have all kinds of tones to work with.

Okay, so I'm in a few bands. One is a technical death/thrash band (if it were to be labeled), another is a "nu-metal"/groove metal band, and the last is an atmospheric black metal project. Therefore, that is why I need a diverse tonal palette. I'm open to any and all suggestions! (Guitar) Amp heads, preamps . . . you name it!

Currently I use two Peavey 5150 2x12 combos -- one through a 5150 4x12 cab with Celestions, the other through a generic 4x12 --, as well as an Epiphone Les Paul with DiMarzio D Activator-X pickups and a Seymour Duncan Blackout preamp, an LTD Serpent-600, and an LTD M-200UC. I have the amps set up for live gigs for the technical metal project, so I can't really change them settings (therefore being why new gear would be nice).

So, give me all ya got! Remember, it doesn't matter to me if it's new or used and I am open to ALL suggestions!

EDIT: I should also add. Due to where I live, I cannot try out most gear! We have one very small guitar shops that only deals very cheap gear and very little guitar equipment!

Bugera 333XL head.
Its got 3 channels, a clean and two distortions.
You can hear what I did with it at my links below if you want. It's metal stuff, and the only thing I did with it in production was some EQing.
It's reeally cheap as far as tube heads go, I think it's currently running around $650, and you could probably just run it into your 5150 cabs with good results

Ha! I used to own one of those! Got rid of it to get my first 5150. Loved the tone of the thing actually. I got it to sound very Mesa-esque (compared it side-by-side with my friends Dual Recto. I know what I'm talking about!). I'll definitely be considering that one!

EDIT: Killer tunes, by the way, man!

Thing looks really cool. Do you know where I could find any good sound demos of it? Can't find any good ones on the YouTube.

yea, as a standalone it gets a very Mesa sound, but if you properly set up an overdrive pedal or somethin, it gets a much more KSE-y tone

For sure, man. It has a very broad range of tones. I could crank a ton out of it with a 31-band EQ in the loop.

you ever thought of marking your settings for each style on the 5150 dials? use some colored masking tape so you know what goes where. I can totaly change my tones around and then get them back rather quickly.

Sounds a little like rich boy lazyness to me

Look at the Jet City JCA 50h, you may even beable to find a Mesa rectoverb or single recto head around $700.
Used XXX/JSX will work real nice also and can be found on the cheap.

Forgot a bout the 50 watt Krank Rev Jr, Krankinstien Jr or 1980 Jr they are much nicer than the big versions IMO.

I'll look around for some Mesas in my budget and also check out that Jet City amp. Thank you for your response!

I'll also check out the XXX/JSX. The people at the music store actually play through those for the band that they're in. I'll ask 'em about it. And I'll look into those Krank amps.

I hate the whole sub-genre thing, honestly ahaha. But there's very different tones that are associated with some of them. I'll look into the Krank that you mentioned. Any specific OD pedals that'd be best?

I think they usually just od with a tube screamer variation.

I mess around with a Green Rhino to dial in the bottom end at 100hz, and sometimes a Plimsoul.
The Plimsoul is trebly, has the distortion of several tubescreamers, has a stage 2 power tube distortion dial, and a treble cut dial to remove some of the treble.

The Super Duper looks interesting, but it is not very budget oriented.
