so my dad made a deal with somebody to trade an old car we didn't really want for a Nikon D2X+professional lens+a little stand you hold in your hands and the camera looks amazing and is super expensive as well.

but im never being much of a photographer or anything like that and i was wondering if anybody has gotten into the hobby or what kind of things do you do with the camera?

because the camera is really really beautiful but i dont know if either to sell it on ebay
or keep it and get into the hobby.

right now i just have it in my room and haven't used it for much.

so i would like some ideas to see how can i get into this hobby?

any advice is appreciated

No, but I own a fisheye lens and post pictures on tumblr, that makes me a photographer, right?

I am not one, but I know Kensai is into the photography stuff, he might be able to help you.
The content of this signature is pretty much irrelevant

In all honesty, if you don't feel like taking pics you're not going to like it as a hobby. Same thing goes for any hobby.

If you feel like trying anyway, try looking at some pics for inspiration and go outside for some shooting.

that camera is pretty much the epitamy of cameras. it'll be super complicated at first to use but when you get the hang of it it'll serve you for life, unless you're a pleb and you drop it and break it, i'd absolutely LOVE that camera but sadly i can't afford one

if you want to get into the photography hobby i'd say that it's too much for what you'll probably want it for so sell it on ebay and then invest about 40-50% of the money you get from it into a decent DSLR and then the other remaining % either save or put into guitar related stuff and give us pictures! (with your new DSLR obv)

but i personally... would keep it xD

I take pictures of flowers in my garden with the background out of focus.
dirtbag ballet by the bins down the alley
as i walk through the chalet of the shadow of death
everything that you've come to expect

I read the thread title as "Does anyone do professional pornography?".

Yeah, I'm tired.
When some stranger on the internet says it is so, it must be so.

Half the posts in the photography thread are that.

If you don't know what you're doing you would probably do better to sell it and buy a cheaper camera, like a Nikon D3100 or something that has basic controls and that can teach you more about apertures, shutter speeds, etc.

It's a good camera, even for a nikon, but for learning he might just as well have any dSLR since they all use the same techniques.

I'd say keep it and see if he likes photography. If he doesn't then just sell it.
