ok, so my first day back was last friday and i had my first day back at maths...
so i was'nt in a great mood so i couldnt really be bothered trying to do my work well, so our teacher gives us our work and i see that she got the alphabet wrong.. i point this out then she says 'i dont care its only one mistake' then i carried on, i found another mistake and pointed it out..... she replies 'I DONT GIVE A SHIT' so that was me told...
also in june before we got off, there were revision classes for our exam coming up.. she said to my best friend 'i would love to take you into a room and cut the shit outta you'

i really dislike this woman.
rant over.

It is typical of the British to only use one quotation mark, like so;

'My dear Watson!'

It would make this forum a more pleasurable place if you would adhere you your country's grammatical norms. Thank you.

There's a good chance that what I've written above is useless and if you take any of the advice it's your own fault.

Why would a math teacher write down the alphabet? I call shenanigans.

This is gonna get grammar ugly. Haha.

Over here we use either " or ' and both are fine... Different British novelists will use one or the other, I imagine publishers have more say than the author.

I personally use two to differentiate between quotations and apostrophes...

Andddd I have a degree in English. Just to add gravitas to that... lol!

for example:

1. 2+2
2. 3+3

well she does

A. 2+2
B. 3+3

understand?

I don't give a shit about grammatical perfection. If you're gonna be a dumbass Canadian without the exposure of other linguistic trends and you're gonna talk shit on top if, then I will correct you. If you are looking to correct those who correct others because the ones being corrected are correcting something that defies the nature of correction, then you are aiding a lost ladder of incorrect correction, good sir.

EDIT: Should say 'on top of it.'

In your defense, you managed to butcher the English language less than the average UGer.
Dear God, do you actually answer prayers?

Yes, but only in a way indistinguishable from random luck or the result of your own efforts.

I've been there. My teacher was from the Ukraine and had a heavy accent. The first time I heard the word "asymptote" came out as "asymptoke" and "factoring" was "fooktoring".

This is very sigworthy material. I also wonder why the TS gives a shit about the either the alfabet, or a teacher making a minor few mistakes.

TS: she sounds like an annoying lady. My Maths teacher would say "SHAT UP" (insert thick Nigerian accent) every time I tried to ask for help. Mind you I still got a B. It's a pretty simple subject if you just use the revision sites you're told about.

Wow you're wrong bro.

Mathematics = plural. Ergo, maths = plural.

They call it math because the average American can only manage one sum per hour.

It has a plural form and a singular usage. That's why we say "math" to agree with the singular verbs.

"Mathematics" is not plural. It is a field of study. Pray tell, what is a "mathematic"?
