for stuff like Muse, RHCP, and a whole bunch of other stuff. The MAX max amount would be about $550

Cort Kx1Q.

Actually, anything by Cort nowadays is wonderful and inexpensive. Some of the best import guitars I've ever played.

Fender MIM FSR Stratocaster for 499.99

It's perfect for RHCP, but I mainly use mine for Blues and Rock.
Gear:

i'll second the MIM Strat. definitely the right guitar for RHCP. not sure about Muse but i'm thinking it could be made to work. pretty diffeent tones so i guess it would depend on which is more important to you.

MIM Strat. Keep in mind that the "Dave Gilmour" FSR is a Guitar Center one. Other places have other FSRs, some with better pickups, some that are only cosmetic changes to the guitar. MF has one that is $700 that is Ash and has Noiseless Pickups.
Actually, I go by Dave, but there are already too many Daves on this forum.

+ for the fender, can get super nice funk tones with them.

At this price range there's hardly anything that beats Agile guitars.

I've actually been looking for a new guitar in this price range as well. So far, I'm stuck between getting another Agile, a Godin Redline HB, or a Laguna LE 300.
