So I'm currently in cegep 2 ( I think it's 12th year for you american ) and I'm thinking about stopping my studies for a year or two to earn money and buy a new car Problem's that I'm really bored of going to school and I fear that I won't wanna get back to it after... So pit what should I do ?

inb4 I need a new amp, so the new amp joke's pretty useless here

So you're like a year away from completing school then?

I'd say stick it out. Assuming you live at home, you should have minimal outgoings, so a part time job should allow you to save up plenty towards a new car, whilst staying and finishing school (especially if you're nearing completion) will reflect better on you when applying for jobs, etc.

After my cegep I need to go to university and that's another 4 years of study and I'll need to move out in another city and that's where it'll start to get expensive !

Need to go to Uni?

Are you ona course where that's mandatory? It sounds like you're nearing the end of A-Level/College to me....

I'm a UKer, it may well be different wherever you are, but before going to Uni, surely you come out with some qualifications that determine what courses etc you can get on at Uni? Just having those will reflect well against you.

Take a gap year before uni (admittedly I did this and went travelling/volunteering, not working) but I now can't wait to get to uni in two weeks. I'd say it's a good idea, especially if you apply for a deferred entry where you get your place a year in advance.

Whereabouts are you exactly in the world? It might help us (people from that area) to give you a good idea of what to maybe do?

This imo.

However, OP: you already know what you want to do - just do what feels right.

A car is where it "starts to get expensive". Admittedly, I don't know what insurance and all that is like in the UK but you'll be working all the damn time just to keep that thing on the road

I'd take a year off and work after you graduate. I did it, and on top of making much needed money I appreciated school a hell of a lot more than I would have right after high school.

Unless he's willing to do some odd jobs or play music for the rest of his life, the sad fact is that going to uni give you a much better chance at living an affluent life.

I've never really understood the american mindset of viewing college/university education as being unnecessary.... if you only have your high school diploma, how do you get a decent job?

I completely agree with you, but if TS is looking at quitting school now, suggesting he stays on and completes a further 4 year course is hardly going to appeal, no?

You can go to professional formation that last a year or two and you'll earn almost the same amount of money plus it's faster.

Still I want to go to university to have a nice job but I'm really tired of loosing my time at cegep with course I don't want to follow in order to do what I want at uni... That's why I'm thinking about taking a year off to make money... Cause working 15 hours a week at minimum wage won't pay the bills at uni

i though cegep was only 2 years or something. If you weren't in quebec i'd tell you to think about it because even though you could make more money, education is something you'd want to get done as soon as possible. I wasted so much time that I'm a complete snafu of a situation right now.

I'd stay man, you could just finish it off or even maybe take some summer courses and get it done earlier. After that you'd have extra time to make money and afterwards head onto whatever you wanted to do. But to be honest I don't know how jobs are in quebec all i know is that everything is cheaper in quebec except gas. If you were born in quebec I would honestly stay and take advantage of the cheap tuition while youre still in school and prevent yourself from lagging in your education.
