I'm having trouble with playing chord progressions that involve too much variation from the beat structure of a song and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to work on this? I'd kind of like have some funk rhythms and some syncopated rock rhythms but any exercise or suggestion that would help me with my general understanding of how to create my own would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

You just have to learn to multi-track in your head. It's a painfully acquired skill, but nothing's worth having is easy to get.

Try playing Captain Nemo by Michael Schenker right along with the studio version. It's tough, but I'm learning it. It has one weird ass timing... Good luck... just like I need. Haha.
