Hello all! Im lookingh for a cab to go with my windsor head for larger shows. I have a 2x12 i build using rocket 50s and the sound is ok, better than the windsor cab.

Couple of questions. I read that the 1960a/b cabs have the celestion gt-75s? and they have scooped mids. Now i like mid and bass in my tone. would it still have enough mid? Also. I really like the sound of v30s, but cant find a cab in my price range. Are there any other speakers/cabd that pair good with a windsor?

Thanks!

Location: Houston

Budget: $300-550

New/Used: Either.

Gigging: Yes, for recording/bigger shows where i want a nice big ampo/cab behind me.

Any Marshall cab is bound to sound good with the Windsor. Or you can just get some speakers to put in the Windsor cab, if you care about looks (I know I do).

Maybe some greenbacks or clones? I'm not sure how much they cost.

Would greenbacks or v30s sound better? Or mixed?

I'm pretty sure the 1960 cabs have Vintage 30s in them.

For cabinets, I would look at Carvin, they have 2x12 and 4x12 cabs, with different cover options (snakeskin anyone?) and have Vintage 30 speakers. They are also cheaper than your standard Marshall cabs too. Carvin only sell factory direct so you can get stuff for a few hundred cheaper than what you would pay from a bigger company. The build quality is about the same too, if not better.

This is terrible advice. Even worse than the useless dry, sarcastic comment I made.

The 1960 I owned had the GT-75s. I actually had a windsor at the time, sounded quite nice.

Not a problem. Do you use your zakk wylde od to boost the windsor? Thats the only reason I bought a ZW44, that od works great with that amp.

+1 on the T75's. i think there are some amps that really make T75's shine, and quite a few amps that dont.

they are relatively flat in the EQ range, dont have a ton of bass, you have a decent amount of mids (no where the spike on a V30) and cant really find a great way to defnie the top.

overall t75's are more transparent to me that most other speakers out there.

they mix great with V30's.
