I was playing in my usual Natural Minor and I accidentally hit a note outside of the scale, and it's tight as shit. I accidentally raised the 4th degree of the scale, and it sounds all middle eastern and shit.

The notes I played are G#, B, G#, G, G#. And I'm in the key of F Minor.

Anyone know?

3 notes can be in loads of different scale, you either out the whole scale or at least give us the chord proression
#13
to actually help, if you sharpened the 4th though, it's probably the Hungarian minor scale in the key of F minor, assuming you have the 7th sharpened as well. this would be 1, 2, b3, #4, 5, b6, #7, which is the harmonic minor with a raised 4th as well. if you're not sharpening the 7th, do it, it sounds way cooler. it's that scale they use in Eastern European music. try getting out your keyboard, setting it to an accordion patch, and go nuts.

Not sure about what it is in natural minor, but when you raise the 4th in the harmonic minor, it becomes the Hungarian minor.

I googled before I made this thread and found that the Hungarian Minor was raising the 4th of the Harmonic Minor. I'm raising the 4th of the Natural Minor in the key of F.

The chord prog (well, it's actually a bassline), is F, F, C#, F repeat. I can even tell you the tempo if you need it. It's 159 BPM in half time.

I can even let you LISTEN to it:

then it would be the natural minor with the #4 is the less common of the two scales referred to as the Hungarian Gypsy scales, the other more common being the 4th mode of the double harmonic minor scale, so maybe it's easier to just call it Aeolian #4. but you should sharpen the 7th. it sounds better.

Ab, B, Ab, G, Ab
F***ing Ab, not G# if you're in F minor. Especially with the G natural. Makes no sense.

But anyways. The scale would be F G Ab B C Db Eb F then?

Could just be C harmonic minor essentially then.

no it couldn't. Db isn't in C harmonic minor. and Chad's a dummy, he doesn't know better.

First of all, it's important to be consistent in the enharmonics.

In the F minor tonality, G# doesn't "exist". G# implies an augmented 2nd. So where's the minor 3rd? That would be Ab. So G# is really Ab in this case.

Who cares what the scale is called? If you like it, use it. Try using a D natural instead of Db and see how you like it.

...modes and scales are still useless.
